Sweet Home: Finding The Design Mood

When you step in to your new home for the first time or when it is time for a re-design, it is a help if you have a clue what sort of design mood and style you are leaning towards.

As an example, for us we knew that we had to go for as much white as possible as to make it easy for us to take photos in the space as well as for all my random mood boards that I love placing everywhere for inspiration. This was something we had made much thought about even though it might look like a blank canvas to many.

A few days ago I was doing my random blog search and went on Trendenser and where my yaw dropped after looking at this place. It is perfection! It is a dream in my eyes – the whole colour and mood concept of this place hit on all the right areas for me. And it seems like I am not alone as other bloggers have blogged about this space due to its very trendy color palette and materials selected. The interior design is cool and comfortable which feels very natural and where inspiration for a healthy lifestyle exists.

Finding that colour scheme and mood that you are going for in your next place is not always easy, considering the amount of new homes and designs we see daily – which at times we are over exposed to when using social media and can leave an overwhelming kind of feel. The easiest way to know that you are actually coming up with something that is you at this moment and hopefully for a few years forward – is to look in to yourself and jot down some inspiring words of where you are at, what you want and what you want to see. Also great is of course to create an interior designers best friend – a mood board.

If one has a mood board and inspiration it is much easier to connect the moods through the different rooms and spaces within one house or apartment. Like the stylist and interior designer Emma did for this home which is shown on Stadshem and up for sale at the moment. She emphasized on a very clean typical Scandinavian style but instead of the very much white and blacks which are nowadays common for this style, she incorporated subdued colors like grays, greens together with the whites. This created a much soothed and relaxing place and by bringing in green plants in to the space she could easily connect the different rooms with the same color palette.
