Barcelona based graphic designer Coni, or Costanza is a woman who introduced me to her work a couple of weeks ago. She had just launched her new career as a business owner of her own studio Conilab which at the moment focuses on producing handmade silkscreen posters. Knowing how much gutt it takes for someone to take the leap of faith of venturing on their own, made me want to help her a bit along the way by showing some of my favourite pieces she has in her shop.
“[…] I love typography, signs, word games, popular sayings and you will find a little bit of all these things on my work.” – Coni
“Do what you love”! “Turn the page”! All very motivational and uplifting quotes that decorates her posters! I also like the ingenious collection of the “If you want to be-be”. Yep, they are right up my alley. See below what she tells us about her inspiration and style…
Where do you find inspiration to your art?
I don’t think I have a “style” because I’m on a searching process; experimenting. I can tell you I love typography, signs, word games, popular sayings and you will find a little bit of all these things in my work.
How would you define your style?
Anything can inspire me. A song, a book, visiting an exhibition, watching a movie, walking on the beach, talking to someone… Also some facts of my personal life, such as the birth of my youngest niece which inspired me to do “we are a team“. Once I have an idea the process starts: hand sketches, notes, and then I work on the concept on my computer and when I “see it”, begins the serigraphy-process.
Thank you Coni for reaching out to us and for inspiring us.
