The offices of businesses like real estate agents are traditionally seen as following the same design style, wherever in the world they might be located. However, there’s one real estate agent in Stockholm who are breaking the mould with a truly creative office design envisioned by forward thinking architects BSK Arkitekter.

Their name is Vasakronan and they’re a real estate company with a difference, not just specialising in retail and office spaces but focusing on doing their bit for the environment. They’re proud to be a carbon neutral company who are ISO 14001 certified, and Sweden’s first ever property company to offer green leases and green offices.

The whole of the Vasakronan office is decorated using bright and vibrant colours. Their signature shade of yellow crops up across the whole building; adorning chairs, lamps, boardroom walls and the partitions of breakout areas to reinforce the company’s branding and provide an identifying factor to visitors. Yellow is also a colour that’s been known to help increase our creativity, which is why it makes sense for Vasakronan to concentrate the shade around these essential work areas.

This tactical mind set continues in the rest of the office design, with exciting and energetic reds and oranges brightening up the ping pong area and collaborative working areas, and more relaxing blues and purples helping to create a serene atmosphere in the chill out areas.

The most important and impressive theme that runs through Vasakronan’s office design however, is the theme of the natural world. After all, it’s only right that a company dedicated to doing their bit for climate change illustrates it through their office design.

Wild looking plants, bushes and small trees surround tables and break out areas and line the office walls, while brown wicker chairs line the desks and plant pots hang in place of lampshades. The whole place is like a kind of indoor garden, motivating employees with a taste of the outside world (plants have long been thought to help increase staff productivity due to the life and vitality they inject into an office).

The office of Vasakronan is a great lesson in how to brand your headquarters. It doesn’t have to be done using a full on design that’s overrun with company logos and branded stationary, it can be achieved by simply reflecting your working practices through things like office colours and accessories.

Then there’s the fact that it just looks so inspirational. Coupled with a white colour palette that reflects and enhances the light we need to lift our spirits and stop us feeling gloomy, this creative office design helps create a workspace that everyone will look forward to walking into, whether they’re a client or a member of staff.

What do you think of Vasakronan’s nature inspired office design? Would you like to work there?
